A woman in her 30s was killed and four others were injured early Sunday in separate shootings in downtown Austin, Texas, according to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.
According to Austin police, there are “separate shootings within the same area. Both scenes are secure at this time.”
Two females and one male were taken to the University Medical Center Brackenridge with gunshot wounds. One male refused medical treatment, the EMS says.
Authorities are urging people to stay away from the downtown area. Austin police had earlier referred to the event as an “active shooter incident” in a tweet. It is unclear if the shooter is now in police custody.
