The Rescue Hose & Ladder Company fire chief, in agreement with the Pike Township Supervisors and the Curwensville Borough Council, has decided to enact a mandatory burn ban effectively immediately.
Due to the recent lack of rain, the possibility of an open fire spreading and becoming uncontrollable has increased. The ban includes:
- Burning leaves, grass, branches, twigs or garbage in any outdoor burn barrels or fire rings.
- Cooking fires
- Camp fires
- Open charcoal grills
This excludes:
- Propane gas grills
- Enclosed charcoal grills
Any person violating the ban shall be subject to fines, and any costs related to extinguishing wildfires they may cause.
The ban shall remain in effect for 30 days, or until it is lifted by The Pike Township Supervisors and the Curwensville Borough Council.
Any questions can be directed to the Rescue Hose & Ladder Company Fire Chief, Denny Curry.
