CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Historical Society board of directors met for their monthly planning meeting Tuesday night at the museum building.
President Denny Shaffner read communications and the president’s report.
The society will enter a fair entry, which represents Clearfield County’s military heritage, “History of the American Soldier.”
A soldier, dressed in period military uniform, will represent each war with his wife walking alongside in same period civilian clothing. This has never been done before and should prove impressive.
Display chairman, Becky Miller, reported on the William Patton Brown (1904-1980) art sale now available for sale. Brown was born in Clearfield.
After attending design school in New York City, he moved to Florida joining the Ringling Brothers Circus. The famous circus capitalized on Brown’s talent by sending him to an art illustration school.
He continued work for Ringling Brothers until the late 1930’s. Brown moved home to Clearfield where he continued painting for the joy of art as well as advertising work for local businesses. It was noted that these watercolor prints are of particular esthetic beauty.
Each of the eight prints are 17″ x 12″ images, on 100 lb. quality reproduction paper, with a 1/2″ white surround border and are on sale at the museum for $30.

Membership chairman, Cathy Larson, reported membership stands at 689. Yearly memberships can be obtained for $15 at the museum on Thursday and Sunday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Northwest Savings Bank will sponsor the Fall Festival at Bloody Knox again. Event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9.
