David J. Griffiths, 89, formerly of Luthersburg, died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the DuBois Village.
Born June 12, 1927 in DuBois, he was the son of David J. Griffiths and Lillian (Gearhart) Rudolph. Both his mother and his father preceded him in death.
On July 19, 1951, he married Dolores “Pat” (Wachob) Griffiths. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He worked various jobs after his retirement from the military. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his cat, “Inky.”
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Gray and her husband, Michael of DuBois; one granddaughter, Stacy Nist and her husband, Jeffrey of Williamsville, NY; one grandson, Dr. Michael Gray and his wife, Brittany of DuBois; and three great-granddaughters, Emily Nist and Brielle and Liza Gray.
He is also survived by a half-sister, Sarah Bayer of DuBois.
He was preceded in death by his three half-sisters, Elsie Gelnett, Yvonne “Bonnie” Kirk and Hazel McDonald and six half-brothers, Albert, William, Grant, Paul, Earl and John.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.
