DUBOIS – On Monday night, DuBois City Council approved to tear down and then to rebuild the caretaker’s house at the DuBois Reservoir.
City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio described the current caretaker’s house as being in “very bad shape.” He asked council members not to delay their decision.
He explained that the city would have to develop a plan, obtain building permits, etc., and it would be pushing winter before construction was completed.
It was noted a caretaker is needed to prevent issues and to have an official presence at the reservoir.
“The Indians know when there aren’t any chiefs out there,” said Councilman Edward Walsh.
“There’s been more partying out at the reservoir, and more dumping out there in the last three months.”
Council wanted the new caretaker’s house built to remain durable and visually appealing for at least another 50 years if not longer.
Council members Jim Aughenbaugh and Randy Schmidt were excused from the meeting.
