Gary Moore Spencer, 71, of Hepburnia died Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 23, 1944 in Clearfield, he was the son of Donald M. Sr. and Lula M. (Swartzlander) Spencer.
Mr. Spencer was retired as a heavy equipment operator for Hepburnia Coal Company. He had also operated the Grampian Hills Sawmill in Hepburnia.
He was a former member of the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Hepburnia United Methodist Church.
Mr. Spencer was also a former member of the Grampian Lions Club. He was in the Curwensville Area High School class of 1962.
On June 26, 1971 in Grampian, he wed the former Shiela L. Weber, who survives, along with two sons, Casey Spencer and his fiancée, Anne Marie DiSante of Williamsport and Jordan Spencer of Hepburnia.
Also surviving are a sister, Lois “Peachy” Straw and her husband, James of Lancaster and a brother, Richard L. Spencer of Pittsburgh as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ethel Danvir; and six brothers, Robert G., Darrell G., Ray “Buck”, Keith, Donald Jr. and Edward Allen Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hepburnia United Methodist Church, Grampian, with the Rev. Ronald Emery officiating. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery Grampian.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville and again from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday when the procession will depart for the church.
