Darlene M. McCracken, 74, of Kerrmoor died Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Curwensville.
Born Aug. 29, 1941 in Greely, Colo., she was the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Berky) Dhooge.
Mrs. McCracken graduated from nursing school in 1970 as a licensed practical nurse but was mostly a mother and homemaker.
On March 9, 1962, she wed Raymond B. McCracken, which began her journey as a career military wife.
They were blessed with five children, Eugena Witherite of Kerrmoor; Shannon Kinsler, Derek McCracken and Fred McCracken, all of Newville; and Patrick McCracken of Lexington, Okla.
Surviving are nine grandchildren, Keegan Prisk, Cody Witherite, Garrett Witherite, Lucas McCracken, Tiffany Williams, Dustin Witherite, Jeremy McCracken, Kyle McCracken and Katelyn McCracken.
Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, Teague and Nora Prisk, Kayden Witherite, Ethan McCracken, Nicki Lathrop, Breilyn Williams and Kenlee and Reagan Witherite; a sister and four brothers, Jim Kramer of Idaho, Vern Kramer of Colorado, Alfred Dhooge and Allen Dhooge, both of Greely, Colo., and Jeanette Gruwell of Glendo, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCracken will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Richard Engle officiating.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
