COOPER TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising drivers that a detour will be in effect starting July 7, as replacement work begins for a Route 1011 (Rolling Stone Road) bridge in Clearfield County.
The work is expected to last through July 22 and an official detour will be in place for the length of the project. The detour will direct drivers to use Route 879 (Frenchville Karthaus Highway), Route 1009 (Deer Creek Road), Route 2030 (Bigler Cutoff Road), Route 53 (Allport to Kylertown Highway).
Starting July 7, crews will begin work to replace the existing concrete slab bridge with a new box culvert. The Cooper Township bridge spans Browns Run, in the town of Kylertown. Originally built in 1971, the 19-foot bridge carries an average of almost 640 vehicles daily.
Employees of PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance will perform excavation and removal of the existing bridge. Crews from Horizon Construction Group Inc. of Sandy Lake, Pa., will install the new box culvert, guide rail, and pave. Value of the work is $311,214.00.
