Robert A. Wilson Sr., 82, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born Dec. 13, 1933 in DuBois, he was the son of the late Harry M. Wilson Sr. and Frances (Guiher) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a 1952 graduate of Sandy High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
On June 6, 1953, he married Mona M. Sterling. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2010.
He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of DuBois, where he served on the board of deacons.
Mr. Wilson was a life member of the Oklahoma Fire Company, and he was a member of the Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, country music, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and NASCAR. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Robin Georgino and her husband, Patsy of DuBois and Joy Heller and her husband, Scott of Conover, NC and a son, Robert A. Wilson Jr. and his wife, Wendy of DuBois.
He is survived by three sisters, Mona R. Hart, Hazel Pringle and her husband, Jack and Rena Miles and her husband, Burt; a sister-in-law, Jean Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry M. Wilson Jr.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
