As Donald Trump heads to Scotland for the opening of his new golf course, some local residents are sending the presumptive Republican nominee a message.
Michael Forbes, a Scottish farmer, raised a Mexican flag this week near the Trump International Golf Links, the Aberdeen course owned by the businessman. Forbes and others are protesting Trump’s controversial comments about Mexican immigrants.
“We wanted to point out that while he seems to think he can say what he likes in one place and not hear about it elsewhere, he is wrong,” David Milne, a member of the Tripping Up Trump campaign, told Buzzfeed.
“The point of the flag is to show solidarity with the Mexicans and every other group that Trump has decried, derided, insulted and tried to marginalize,” he said.
Trump has charged that some Mexicans entering the U.S. are criminals and proposed building a wall along the border.
The flag is on land owned by Forbes and others who want to prevent Trump from acquiring the property.
Trump will visit Glasgow this week for the opening of Trump Turnberry, his newest golf course in Ayrshire, before flying to Aberdeen later this week to check out his course there.
The Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from CNN.
