Leonard (Red) Paul Weld, 82, of Sandy Ridge died Monday, June 20, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Jan. 27, 1934 in Philipsburg, he was the son of John and Eva (Shoffner) Weld.
Mr. Weld served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed in the coal and wood industry.
He enjoyed fishing doing odd jobs and spending time with family and friends. He was well-known and loved by many.
On Jan. 31, 1981, he married Gladys (Harris) Weld, who survives in Sandy Ridge.
He is survived by his children, Dennis Weld and Daniel (Misty) Weld, both of Philipsburg, David Weld of Glasgow, Darrel (Victoria) Weld of Brisbin, Dean (Crystal) Weld and Doug Weld, both of Fallentimber and Darlene (Mark) Sheffo of Bentlyeville.
Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed Weld Sr. of Tyrone; five sisters, Florence Lefort, Ruth Sagess and Eileen Harvey of Clearfield, Janet Mann of Osceola Mills and Betty Laws of New York; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Weld was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Robert, Walter and Charles Weld.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills.
