Bridge to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership
TROUTVILLE – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project continues in Clearfield County in July with the reconstruction of a bridge in Brady Township.
Replacing the bridge will provide motorists with a new, modern structure and allow PennDOT to remove the bridge from Clearfield County’s structurally deficient list.
The Route 3009 (McGees Mill Road) bridge (JV 45) spans the East Branch of Mahoning Creek about two miles southeast of the village of Troutville. The bridge is scheduled to close in July.
A more detailed schedule will be released closer to the start of construction. Traffic will be detoured to SR 2004, SR 2007, SR 3028, U.S. Route 119, SR 36, SR 410 and SR 2003.
The work is expected to be complete by October. Dating from 1938, this 52-foot bridge carries an average of more than 300 vehicles each day. The bridge is currently weight-limit posted at 15 ton for single vehicles and 18 ton for combination vehicles.
This bridge replacement is part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years.
The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
