The nation may be drowning in debt but Congress is just plain drowning.
Members of Congress and staffers in the Rayburn House Office Building were struck by mysterious flooding outside their doors Tuesday afternoon, when gallons of water began pouring down from the ceiling.
Workers in the 51-year-old building braved the elements to chronicle the devastation.
The precise cause of the water is unknown, though Washington was struck by a mid-afternoon thunderstorm. A spokeswoman for the Architect of the Capitol did not immediately return a request for comment.
