LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County bolted to an 8-0 lead after two innings and went on to hand the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team a 9-2 Central Penn League loss at the Mifflin County High School Field Friday evening.
The Chiefs had only three hits, all in the fifth inning.
Zane Morgan broke up Ty Bodtorf’s perfect game with a single, and Josh Sorbera and Ty Bender followed with back-to-back doubles.
Bodtorf then ended his five-inning sting with his seventh and eighth strikeouts around a groundout.
Andrew Larson worked two hitless innings with two strikeouts.
Mifflin County spoiled Morgan’s first start with three runs in the first inning and five in the second.
Isaac Maclay’s two-run double was the big hit when the hosts broke it wide open on four hits, a hit batsman and two Clearfield errors.
Bryce Timko held the winners to one run and five hits over four innings in his mound debut for the Chiefs. He had four strikeouts with no walks.
Larson tripled twice while Ross Underhill, Nick Hostetler and Ken Cavanaugh had pairs of singles for Mifflin County.
Clearfield (1-2) will host Clarence Tuesday at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park diamond.
