Hillary Clinton told Donald Trump to delete his Twitter account Thursday, following his criticism of President Barack Obama endorsing his former secretary of state.
“Delete your account,” the presumptive Democratic nominee tweeted at Trump, quoting his attack on her and Obama. The tweet was not signed “-H,” which is how Clinton usually signs tweets she authored, suggesting this specific tweet was written by Clinton’s staff.
“Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary. He wants four more years of Obama—but nobody else does,” Trump previously tweeted.
The exchange between the presumptive presidential nominees of both major parties previews an expectantly nasty general election battle, and features a social medium Trump has used to quickly get his message out and attack opponents throughout his campaign.
Clinton’s response was not without its detractors. The Republican National Committee communications director, Sean Spicer, tweeted, “Like with a cloth?” a reference to an off-handed comment Clinton had previously made dismissing criticism of her use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state that was eventually wiped.
Obama endorsed Clinton in a web video Thursday.
“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,” Obama said in the video.
“I want those of you who have been with me since the beginning of this incredible journey to be the first to know that I’m with her,” Obama continued. “I am fired up. And I can’t wait to get out there and campaign with Hillary.”
