Bernice T. Yonushonis, 88, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 1, 1927 in Helvetia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Celia (Kostovny) Vesnesky.
In 1949, she married John “Poco” Yonushonis. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2000.
She worked at Brockway Glass as a packer and a bottle inspector.
Upon retirement she enjoyed bus trips with her husband, sightseeing and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Thomas and her husband, J. Terry of Laurel, Md., and two sons, James Yonushonis and his wife, Mary Ellen of Philipsburg, and John D. Yonushonis and his wife, Patty of Treasure Lake, DuBois.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Marla Thomas Solomon, Sherry Thomas Rice, JP Yonushonis, Greg Yonushonis, James P. Yonushonis, Melanie Yonushonis Smith and Megan Yonushonis and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Joseph and Walter Vesnesky and four sisters, Cecelia Sekula, Martha DeChurch, Stella Lesky, and Helen Rudzinski.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. To conclude the visitation, the family will pray the rosary at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
