Stanley J. Wawrynovic Jr., 65, of Altoona died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 30, 1950 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Stanley J. Sr. and Gladys A. (Morgan) Wawrynovic.
Mr. Wawrynovic was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona.
He was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Osceola Mills Post No. 5020, the Ruffed Grouse Society and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He was a 1968 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and a 1973 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.
He was employed with the Thompson Pharmacy, Altoona, for 40 years until his retirement.
On Nov. 10, 1979 in Philipsburg, he married the former Kathleen M. “Kay” Burns, who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Jane A. Stark of Osceola Mills; a brother, Thomas A. Wawrynovic of Clinton, Md.; and a nephew, Matthew Stark of Osceola Mills.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Carl Spishak as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Philipsburg.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg.
The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 4 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
