DUBOIS – Charges have been filed against a Reynoldsville woman accused of “huffing” in a local shopping plaza.
Hunter Nicole Bell, 20, 253 Main St., Reynoldsville, was charged by Sandy Township police with smell/inhale toxic releasing substances and possession of a solvent for release of toxic vapors/fumes after an incident May 9 in the parking lot near Bon Ton on Commons Drive.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were called to the lot because the caller said a woman was huffing something from a bottle inside her vehicle. It was reported that she vomited outside the vehicle before becoming unresponsive.
This witness was able to open the vehicle door and remove the keys from the ignition so the woman could not drive away.
When police arrived on scene, she was responsive but appeared to be under the influence of something. She was identified as Bell. There was vomit outside the vehicle and inside on her clothing and on the seat. She was told to exit the vehicle and was detained.
Under the seat, in plain view was a can of Ultra Duster, which was still cold to the touch; this is consistent with it being recently used, police said.
The officer asked Bell if she was huffing the duster and she denied it at first and then allegedly admitted she was huffing and had a problem. She was transported to the police station and then to Penn Highlands Emergency Room for an evaluation.
Bell’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 10 at District Judge Patrick Ford’s office.
