CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners on Tuesday authorized an agricultural conservation easement program during their regular meeting.
It’s authorized under the Agricultural Area Security Law. It’ll be administered by the county’s newly-created Agricultural Land Preservation Board, said Commissioner John Sobel, chair.
The program, he explained, is for purchasing agricultural conservation easements from landowners. The commissioners previously appointed a five-member Agricultural Land Preservation Board.
Its initial board members include Charlie Muth, farmer; Carlene Pearce, farmer; Michael Hollabaugh, municipal representative; Henry Daughefty, contractor representative; and Eric Fox, at large representative.
Sobel has selected Fox to serve as chairman of the board. Annually, the chairman of the board of commissioners will select a new chairman for the Agricultural Land Preservation Board, he said.
Sobel, on behalf of the commissioners, thanked everyone who showed interest in serving on the board and those who were appointed to it. Fox thanked the commissioners for the opportunity to serve the community.
