Michael Swartz, 88, of Hudson, RD Philipsburg, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Swartz was born Jan. 30, 1928 in Detroit, Mich., a son of the late John and Annie (Slother) Swartz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Becky Stauffer and Anna Brelo; a brother, George Swartz; and two half-brothers, Auman and Andrew Brelo.
He was a Christian by faith and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Swartz worked as a machinist with the General Cigar Company of Philipsburg, until his retirement.
On June 30, 1956 in Philipsburg, he married the former Ida Mae Vogle, who survives at home.
He is also survived by a step-son, William M. Vogle and his wife, Carol of Gearhartville, RD Philipsburg; two sisters, Sussie Petriskie of Troy, RD Philipsburg, and Sophie Reho of Philipsburg; and a brother, Paul Swartz of Philipsburg.
Mr. Swartz is also survived by two grandchildren, Jeffrey Vogle and his wife, Glenda of Alexandria, Pa., and Bonnie Reimer and her husband , Kevin of Dover, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Cassandra Vogle and Emily and Matthew Reimer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Frantz, officiating. Burial will be at the International Order of Oddfellows Cemetery in Brisbin.
There will be no public visitation.
