LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – The Lawrence Township Police Department would like to warn residents that the IRS phone scam is still prevalent in the area.
According to police, the callers are posing as representatives from the IRS, claiming money is owed and threatening lawsuits against area residents.
The callers are demanding immediate payment for residents to resolve debt to the IRS. “The IRS will not call you and sends certified mail,” police say.
“Residents should not be alarmed by these calls. This is a phone scam.” Police would like to advise residents not to respond to these calls.
