CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield school board voted, 8-0, to approve the fact finder’s report from Jennie K. Bullard, Esq., dated April 25, in regards to the ongoing negotiations with the Clearfield Education Association during a special meeting Tuesday night.
Board members Mary Ann Jackson, Larry Putt, Gail Ralston, Randy Pataky, Phil Carr, Dr. Michael Spencer, Tim Morgan and Susan Mikesell all voted in favor when the board reconvened after a brief executive session. Board member Jennifer Wallace was absent from the board meeting.
The fact finder’s report is a part of the ongoing negotiations with the teacher’s union. There was a request made for fact finding, which prompted a process during which both parties had to present sides. Then, the fact finder issued the report, explained Superintendent Terry Struble after adjournment.
The CEA also held its voting meeting Monday night. “If either party, which is now the teacher’s union, votes it down, the report becomes public Wednesday,” he said. “But if it’s approved, it will remain a private document that’s used to help finalize the contract.”
The contract expired last June and covers 185 teachers, he said. Struble was unable to provide further comment, adding, “If it’s positive on the other end (CEA), we’ll issue a joint statement Wednesday.”
