TREASURE LAKE – A Saturday morning house fire has displaced a Treasure Lake family, according to a press release issued by Sandy Township Fire Chief John Hallowell.
The department responded to the fire at 7:55 a.m. at 386 Montego Bay Rd. The house is owned by Tedd and Carolyn Pounds, and a large portion of it was on fire when firefighters arrived at the scene.
According to Hallowell, the couple and their two children were sleeping at the time of the fire. But one of the children woke up and saw fire in the living room area.
The child woke up the rest of the family, and everyone was able to get out, along with their pet dog, Hallowell said. He also noted there were neither any injuries to residents nor firefighters.
“Everything went smoothly and water wasn’t an issue. The fire was extinguished quickly by crews,” he said.
“Crews were on the scene for about three hours, and a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was called to investigate, but it appears to be accidental.”
Additionally, Hallowell said the house was a total loss, and it was insured. The American Red Cross was dispatched to assist the family, he said.
All Sandy Township fire units responded, as well as others from Falls Creek and Penfield, while units from Sykesville and Reynoldsville were on standby at Sandy Township stations.
