Singing sensation Susan Boyle is reportedly home and “fine” after an incident involving police at London’s Heathrow Airport.
Boyle’s spokeswoman, Nicola Phillips, released a statement to British media saying the singer was at home in Scotland Tuesday and was well after reports that police led Boyle away from a terminal on Monday.
London police declined to name Boyle but released a statement saying they were called “to a lounge in Terminal 5, Heathrow to reports of a distressed woman.”
“Officers attended and spoke with the woman,” the statement continued. “Concerned for her health and well-being, officers used their powers under the Mental Health Act and the woman was taken to a west London hospital by ambulance.”
There was no further police action taken, the statement said.
Boyle shot to fame after a video of her singing “I Dreamed a Dream” while auditioning for “Britain’s Got Talent” went viral in 2009. She later finished in second place on the reality singing competition and released a No. 1 best-selling album.
In 2013 she revealed that she had been diagnosed the year before with Asperger’s syndrome. Boyle shared the diagnosis after reports that she was struggling to cope with her fame.
“I am not strong on my own,” she said at the time. “When I have the support of people around me, I am fine.”
