Edward Swenk Walls, 60, of Olanta died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 21, 1956 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Forrest and Laura (Swenk) Walls.
Mr. Walls was a 1974 graduate of Harmony High School. That same year, he went to work as a brakeman/conductor for Penn Central Railroad, later Conrail and most recently Norfolk/Southern from which he retired in 2005.
He was a life-long member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the band “Just Passing Thru” for which he played the fiddle, and they entertained at local nursing homes and churches.
He was Christian by faith and a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Millport.
On June 16, 1984 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Corry, he wed the former Stephanie Gould, who survives, along with two daughters, Laura Ann Edwards and her husband, Robert Jr. of Olanta and Hannah Jean Maney and her husband, Justin of Pittsburgh.
Also surviving are two sisters, Janet Walls of Rapid City, SD and Marian Zedack and her husband, George of Hastings as well as a niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Edward S. Walls will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hepburnia United Methodist Church, Grampian, with the Rev. Ronald Emery officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville and again from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the procession will depart for the church.
The family suggests contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
