CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Mathew Silvis, 28, of Park Street, Sykesville. Silvis is wanted for failure to appear at a pre-trial conference on March 31.
On Oct. 7, 2015, Officer Derrick Welsh of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Silvis. He charged Silvis with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, M1; use/possession of drug paraphernalia, M; and careless driving, S.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 1, 2015, police were dispatched for a report about a vehicle accident. Upon arrival at the scene, Welsh made contact with the operator of the vehicle who was later identified as Silvis.
Welsh immediately detected signs of impairment. After a series of sobriety tests, Welsh determined that Silvis was allegedly under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs.
Silvis was then allegedly found to be in possession of three, different types of prescription pills and a glass pipe. Silvis was transported to the DuBois Penn Highlands Hospital for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was held Nov. 13, 2015, at which time all charges were held to court. On March 31 Silvis failed to appear at a pre-trial conference, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Silvis is described as a Caucasian male who stands 6 feet tall. He has brown hair and eyes.
