Oliver Ross Marien, 89, of Houtzdale died Friday, March 18, 2016 at Windy Hill Village of the Presbyterian Home.
Born July 4, 1926 in Brisbin, he was the son of Raymond and Barbara (Philage) Marien. He was a member of the Brisbin Church of God.
Mr. Marien served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed as a drill press operator for McGregor Sportswear of Clearfield until his retirement.
On Sept. 28, 1947, he married Alice Kizer, who survives in Houtzdale.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda Haskins and Rosann Fischer of Enola, Sheila Murawski and her husband, Ronald of Houtzdale and Pamela Williams and her husband, Mark of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Nichole Liu, Michael Murawski, Jennifer Zingone, Alicia Bubb, Marc Williams; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Doris Phillips of Niagara Falls, NY and Ruth Jones of Smokerun           and a brother, Roland Marien of Brookpark, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Violet Marien; his sister, Lois Schrock; and a grandson, Christopher Haskins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brisbin Church of God with the Rev. Andrew Griffith officiating.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
