CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the voluntary surrender of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Jasmine Santos, 22, of Woodbine Street, Harrisburg. Santos was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Feb. 29.
On Jan. 14 Trooper David Patrick of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield barracks, filed a criminal complaint against Santos. She was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; contraband/controlled substance to a confined person; and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 16, 2015, Santos was visiting an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale. During the visit, Santos was allegedly observed handing a bag of candy to an inmate that contained three balloons.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the balloons allegedly contained a controlled substance. The substance was later sent to the lab and tested positive for marijuana. The inmate was subsequently interviewed and allegedly admitted to consuming the balloons containing marijuana.
A preliminary hearing was held Feb. 17, at which time Santos failed to appear, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Shaw stated that on March 9 Santos voluntarily surrendered herself to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. He thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance with this case.
