Larry Stephen Davis Sr., 75, of Clearfield died Monday, March 7, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
He was born Aug. 19, 1940, a son of the late Rex and Audrey (Ogden) Davis.
Mr. Davis was a member of the U.S. Navy in the office of Naval Intelligence. He served active duty from 1958-1978 and employed as a civil servant from 1978-2002 until retiring as a Chief Petty Officer E7.
During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (five awards) and the Navy Unit Commendation.
Mr. Davis was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports, especially watching the Steelers and Pirates. Mr. Davis was also a life-long member of the Twin Oaks Camp C158.
He is survived by three children, Rick Davis and his wife, CiCi of Pleasant Gap, Ken Davis of Clearfield and Valerie Mackin and her husband, Deno of Athens, Ala.
He is survived by eight grandchildren, Chad, Tyler and Jared Davis, Amber Ward and her husband, Kevin, Carrie Thompson Davis, Connor Davis, Brandon Mackin and his wife, Taelor and Tiffany Mackin and three great-grandchildren, Kole, Kastin and Kannon.
He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Glenn Rees of Fremont, Ohio; numerous nieces, Linda Wingate, Pam Rees, Kathy Davis, Sandy Edwards, Tawni Schwochow and Laura Manahan; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Stephen Davis Jr., and two sisters, Pat Curry and Mona Rees.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Post Honor Guards.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
