CLEARFIELD – Roadway improvement work will get under way in mid-March on Route 153 in Clearfield County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
Signs will be set the week of March 7 and work featuring tree trimming and erosion and sedimentation controls will get under way March 14.
The project will improve roadway integrity through drainage and guiderail improvements, along with paving. The project will also replace two small structures (one over Anderson Creek and one over Wise Run) with box culverts.
The work zone stretches along Route 153 from S.B. Elliot State Park to Parker Dam State Park. Overall work on the project will include the addition of a northbound turn lane at Laurel Run Road, drainage upgrades, guiderail updates, paving and structure replacement.
Traffic control will feature an alternating traffic pattern during daylight hours, with flaggers in the roadway. Travel delays are likely. Temporary traffic signals will be used at each of the box culvert sites when that work takes place.
PennDOT expects the project to be complete by mid-November, with all work weather and schedule dependent. Glen O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $3.8 million job.
Drivers are reminded to move through work zones with caution, watch for flaggers in the roadway, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
