Gary L. Dandoy Sr., 76, of DuBois, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Dandoy was born July 17, 1939, the son of Alfred and Violet (Neiswonger) Dandoy.
He had worked for DeAngelo Ashphalt and the First Commonwealth Bank in maintenance until retiring in 2004.
Mr. Dandoy was a member of the DuBois VFW.
He liked fishing with his grandson, Joel and spending time with his family. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mr. Dandoy is survived by three children, Kim Poarch and her husband, Bill of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sandra Thomas and her husband, Joel Sr., and Gary Dandoy Jr., and his wife, Jessica, all of DuBois.
He is also survived by a granddaughter, Mercedes Dandoy; two great-granddaughters, Ariella and Cheyenne Thomas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was the last member of his generation. He preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie A. Dandoy, to whom he was married March 4, 1963 and who died Sept. 15, 2014; a grandson, Joel Thomas Jr.; a step-brother, Al Houser; and four sisters, Delores Dandoy, Marie Meagher, Shirley Rossman and Violet Ann Caylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Mohney–Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc. of DuBois with the Rev. Charles Lee officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
