CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County’s tourism promotion agency, Visit Clearfield County, has a new home, and the staff members are excited to introduce it to visitors to the county as well as local residents. The office move took place on Jan. 20.
The new office is located at the Save A Lot Plaza, close to Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 322 while also being in close proximity to the borough of Clearfield. Storefront space beside Aaron’s was renovated for their use, resulting in plenty of parking, room for meetings and offices for each of the staff members.
“It’s very nice,” said Executive Director Holly Komonczi of their new home. “People can clearly see it’s very functional. It is laid out to allow for good office flow. We’re really pleased.”
She added that the office space is well lit, clean and provides accommodating work space for everyone. Additionally, the office has plenty of storage for travel planners, brochures and all of their other needs. Now, everything is stored on site instead of VCC needing to rent storage space elsewhere.
There is also room for meetings with a 15-person conference room, ideal for the monthly board meetings or other events. There is also plenty of room for partners to display brochures and other information, and VCC provides information on other tourism opportunities around the state.
Additionally, visitors can view pictures of the various attractions in the area and get a feel for what Clearfield County has to offer.
An open house is planned for the public on March 10 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
VCC has been in search of a permanent home for a few years now. Nearly eight years ago the agency, then known as Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority, moved from the multi-service center on Leonard Street to office space on North Front Street.
While the building was located near the downtown and had historic charm, it was not quite big enough for their needs. The next stop was a renovated building on Hammermill Road, near Fox’s Pizza, but that also did not quite work out. VCC then rented space at the Alliance Park on Spruce Street from Clearly Ahead, the county’s economic development organization, until a new home was located.
Komonczi noted that people may have been wondering about the new travel planner and assured GANT News that the publication is on its way and should be available in March. She said they chose to hold off on publication until the move was complete in order to save time and money.
The next step in updating how VCC interacts with the world is a Web site update. Komonczi said they are in the planning stages and hope to have the Web site up and running sometime next year.
“Come out and see us,” Komonczi invited.
