A conservative political group, the American Future Fund, is taking aim at Donald Trump, promising a multi-million dollar ad campaign targeting him. ?
The group is launching both a digital and TV component of its anti-Trump effort with the web component going up as early as Friday. The group says the television ads should be airing in the next couple of days.
American Future Fund says the campaign will spend more than $3 million initially with more expected to come.
The first focus of the group’s ads is on Trump University, a failed real-estate investment school which was a focus of Thursday night’s Republican debate. Trump University operated between 2005 and 2010, and about 10,000 students signed up for the program. Now the real-estate mogul is facing three separate lawsuits involving it.
Its first ad will feature a man named Bob, who the group says paid $35,000 to Trump University and he says “I was duped by the Donald” and lists promises he said were not kept by Trump.
Trump’s attorney has said many of the students who attended the program were satisfied with the courses.
“All we can do is provide the tools for people to go out there and apply these things,” Trump attorney Alan Garten has said. He also said it should not be blamed because some of the students had trouble selling in the middle of the 2008 economic collapse.
AFF has previously done ads aimed against Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
