A Kenyan helicopter pilot is facing trouble in court and — possibly worse, from his point of — a gathering social media storm after a cell phone video was posted online allegedly showing him shoving a police woman.
Alistair Patrick Llewelyn was flying Kenya’s deputy president, William Ruto, to a function Sunday in central Kenya. But an online video, take in Nyunyu Njeru, shows the excited crowd getting too close to the chopper, at which point Llewelyn takes the police officer’s baton and shoves her, shouting, “Do your job!”
The video has been trending on social media for days with the hashtag #deportrutospilot.
Llewelyn appeared in a court in Kinangop. where he denied charges of assault. He is due in court again on Monday.
Kenya’s police chief, Joseph Boinett, ordered a full investigation and said Llewelyn should face criminal proceedings.
Llewelyn is due in court again on Monday.
