Entertainer Barry Manilow halted his tour after complications from surgery, in the midst of what’s been described as his final concert tour.
Manilow’s official Facebook confirmed the incident, saying it was due to complications from emergency oral surgery that he had on Monday. It said he was “rushed” back to Los Angeles from Memphis, Tennessee.
“He is perfectly healthy,” Manilow’s publicist, Victoria Varela, told CNN. “He is not in the hospital. Other than the dental issue, he is doing great. He still does not know if he can attend the Grammys.” The awards are Monday.
Manilow has postponed two upcoming concerts citing his health: a Thursday night show in Highland Heights, Kentucky; and Friday’s set in Nashville. They will be rescheduled.
The 72-year-old Grammy winner has been the subject of speculation regarding his health in recent years. His 2011 hip surgery also led to concerts being postponed. He also revealed that year that he had chronic heart disease.
Manilow reportedly married his longtime manager Garry Kief in secret back in April.
