KANE – The Curwensville Lady Tide girls basketball team put up a competitive effort Friday night against Kane, on the Lady Wolves’ home floor, before losing 55-41.
The Lady Wolves won back in December, at Curwensville, 49-23.
Curwensville fought hard, keeping themselves in the game through three quarters before losing the fourth quarter 18-8.
After the first half the Lady Tide actually had a one point edge 21-20 and after three trailed by only four, 37-33.
The Lady Tide had three girls in double figures with Hannah Dixon leading the way with 12, followed by Madison Weber with 11 and Christene Limbert netting 10.
Kane also had three girls in double digits, paced by Trinity Clark with 14 points, while Ela Marconi had 13 and Sydney Dyne with 10.
Eric Duriancik, Lady Tide head coach, spoke about his team and the effort put forth, “Shauna Guy played with tremendous heart and effort, as did the rest of the team. Give them credit, they were tough in the post, and when we tried to take that away they made open shots. And Nikki Wormuth keeps getting better, and did a great job on defense tonight.”
Kane also won the junior varsity match-up by a score of 34-16 over the Lady Tide in the evening’s first game. Kaitlyn McCracken had five points for the Lady Tide.
A quick turnaround has the Lady Tide (2-17) playing Moshannon Valley Saturday on the Lady Damsels home court with JV action tipping off at 2 pm and the varsity game to immediately follow.
