PHILIPSBURG – The Penn State Hershey Medical School will collaborate with Cen-Clear to provide a free Health Fair on Feb. 4 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Cen-Clear facility located at 1633 Philipsburg Bigler Hwy., in Philipsburg.
Twelve Penn State Hershey medical students, as well as Dr. Kristie L. Kaufman, M.D. from Mount Nittany Medical Center, have worked with Cen-Clear to plan and provide the health fair. The students had previously visited Cen-Clear and decided to develop this project to benefit the local community.
This project was selected based on research showing that children with developmental delays are not being identified as early as possible. As a result, the medical students and Cen-Clear staff planned the health fair as an event open to the public where children age birth to 5 years will have the opportunity to be screened by physicians and therapists for developmental, vision and hearing delays.
Information regarding enrollment in Early Intervention programs will also be provided.
The health fair will be a night of family fun. Every child will receive a gift and will have the opportunity to win door prizes. Parents will learn “what to do when your child gets sick” and receive a free thermometer and reference book.
Activities will include a ball pit, bingo for books, visits from favorite characters and more. Families will also have the opportunity to enroll in Cen-Clear programs and talk with medical professionals.
No advance registration is necessary. For more information regarding the health fair, call 814-342-5678, Ext. 2261.
