Interested in learning something new? The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., in collaboration with Lock Haven University Clearfield, announces two, upcoming educational seminars offered through the Clearfield Community Life-long Learning Institute.
Courses are geared towards the interests of the baby boomers and older citizens. Typical sessions will last approximately 90 minutes and will be taught primarily by Lock Haven University faculty and community individuals with specific expertise. All programs will be free, or very low cost.
Your bones are important. You can find out about chronic conditions, such as osteoporosis and arthritis on Tuesday, Feb. 2. You can join instructor, Lori Rancik, to discuss physical activity that promotes healthy bones. You can view demonstrations of simple exercises that promote balance, strength, flexibility and endurance.
Presenter David Wulderk, local historian, will study the half century struggle by women to gain the right to vote, the 1915 PA ballot to referendum that sparked the traveling “Women’s Liberty Bell” as a publicity effort to persuade the county’s men to vote in favor of women’s suffrage on Feb. 16.
The classes will be at Lock Haven University-Clearfield’s Academic Building from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and are offered at no charge, but pre-registration is required. Register by calling the CCAAA at 814-765-2696.
