WINGATE — Tommy Hazel and Will Myers combined for 43 points and 10 of the 13-pointers in the Clearfield Area High School boys basketball team’s high-octane offense as the Bison stampeded Bald Eagle Area 97-57 to keep its perfect Mountain League record intact Friday night.
Hazel earned scoring laurels for the game with 22 points while Myers was right behind with 21.
The two juniors had five treys apiece and also matched rebounds with seven and assists with six.
“Myers had an excellent first half with 16 points, but it was a total team effort,” coach Nate Glunt said. “We shared the ball well and we ran the ball well.”
Senior Cody Spaid and junior Evan Brown chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively, to the Bison’s season-high outburst that was punctuated by a 30-point fourth quarter.
Spaid and Dave McKenzie topped the balanced rebounding effort with eight apiece, and Spaid also had four blocks.
Junior Caleb Strouse contributed nine points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Brown registered five steals.
Clearfield, which led 49-25 at halftime, outscored the hosts by at least eight points in every quarter en route to its 11th league victory and a 17-1 record.
The Bison will ride a 12-game winning streak into Monday’s road makeup game with Central at Martinsburg.
Bald Eagle Area (4-14, 3-8 ML) got 18 points from A.J. Onder, 16 from Trey Butterworth and 14 from Noah Chambers.
In the prelim, the Bison jayvees posted a 54-36 victory.
