The Rev. Gerald T. Montgomery, 87, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Oct. 9, 1928 in Hazel Park, Mich., he was the son of the late William and Winnie (Simpson) Montgomery.
On Nov. 17, 1950, he married Delores V. (Moesta) Montgomery. She survives. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
He was a Baptist pastor for 50 years, serving in Colorado, California and New Jersey.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois. He enjoyed reading and going for walks in Treasure Lake. He served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism for 45 years.
Rev. Montgomery is survived by three children, the Rev. Mark Montgomery and his wife, Deborah of DuBois, Stephen Montgomery and his wife, Carol of Mount Laurel, NJ and Renee Roberts and her husband, Tim of Kokomo, Ind., nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Storey and Wilma McDuffy, and a brother, Harold Montgomery.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at the First Baptist Church in DuBois with his son, Pastor Mark Montgomery and his grandson, Pastor Matthew Montgomery officiating.
A reception with light refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Burial is in Morningside Cemetery.
