Sen. Bernie Sanders said Thursday he’s been briefed on ISIS and Iran by Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser to President Barack Obama.
When asked who gives him foreign policy advice, Sanders told reporters at a Bloomberg Politics breakfast that Rhodes is among the people who have advised him, among other think tanks and policy organizations.
Sanders said foreign policy also was a key part of his discussion with the President on Wednesday at the White House.
Rhodes told CNN that he has briefed Sanders twice. He stressed that it was not in a political context.
Rhodes described the sessions as “standard briefings” he does on Capitol Hill for nearly every Democratic senator on the Iran deal and ISIS.
