Anthony R. Cantolina, 92, of Morrisdale died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at the Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Home, Philipsburg.
He was born March 7, 1923 in Philipsburg, the son of the late Philip and Susanna Merva Cantolina.
Mr. Cantolina was a member of the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale. Â He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Carpathian Club and Lincoln Club of Hawk Run, the Slovak Club of Osceola Mills and the Grassflat LOOM No. 941.
Mr. Cantolina retired from Operating Engineers Local No. 66 as a heavy equipment operator.
He married Frances Yontosh Cantolina and they celebrated 68 years of marriage. She survives in Morrisdale.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Cantolina and his companion, Sandra Albert of Philipsburg and Gary Cantolina of Morrisdale. He is survived by a granddaughter, Jaimee Cantolina and a great-granddaughter, Gabriel Cantolina.
He is also survived by three sisters, Pauline Kelce and Margaret Ellis and her husband, Thomas, both of Philipsburg, and Virginia Conklin and her husband, Cecil of Morrisdale and two brothers, William Cantolina of Gibsonia and Michael Cantolina of Kylertown.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cantolina was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and John Cantolina and two sisters, Mary Shaw and Elizabeth Zelensky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Joseph Steszewski as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Cemetery, Morrisdale.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
