Hotels can make or break a trip with their quality or lack thereof, so U.S. News & World Report has released rankings to help make luxury hotel choices crystal clear.
The best in the U.S.? That would be The Lodge at Sea Island in Georgia.
“The Lodge at Sea Island stands out because its guests are consistently impressed and it racks up a lot of industry accolades,” said Erin Shields, travel editor for U.S. News & World Report. “Visitors really appreciate the high level of service the hotel offers in addition to the many amenities available.”
Luxury amenities abound at the Sea Island resort, which boasts world-class golf, a Forbes Five-Star spa and Atlantic Ocean views.
The rankings, released Thursday, include lists of luxury properties in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico.
U.S. News’ lists look only at luxury hotels and are compiled based on a range of expert reviews as well as guest reviews provided by travel site TripAdvisor and a hotel’s class or star rating.
“To rank very highly, a hotel will have a very high rating among travelers, it will have collected several top industry awards, and it will be a higher-starred hotel,” Shields said.

4. Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu, Hawaii
5. The Peninsula Beverly Hills, California
6. The Inn at Palmetto Bluff, a Montage Resort, Bluffton, South Carolina
7. The Langham, Chicago
8. Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas
9. Waldorf Astoria Chicago
10. Auberge du Soleil, Rutherford, California
On the Canada and Caribbean lists, Ritz-Carlton hotels snagged the No. 1 spots with properties in Montreal and Grand Cayman.
