Candidates will also be seeking petition signatures to get on the ballot for the April primary. Elk County’s Democrats have been a 100-plus signature-filing county for multiple statewide candidates each of the past two years.
Elk County’s breakfast is one of seven petition-signing events scheduled in western Pennsylvania this weekend for Democratic candidates for state and federal office. This year marks the third year for the “Northwest Weekend” as Democrats from various counties work together to bring statewide candidates to the region.
The series kicks off in Blair County in the afternoon on Jan. 29 and concludes with a huge evening social in Erie County on the night of Jan. 30. Additional events are planned for Jefferson and Clearfield counties on Jan. 29 and Clarion and Warren counties on Jan. 30.
Locally, the Jefferson County event is a Meet & Greet at 4 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Taylor Law Firm, 340 Main St., Brookville, followed by the Clearfield County event, an evening social at 7 p.m. at the I.B.E.W. Local 5 Union Hall, 1400 Leonard St., Clearfield. All area Democrats are encouraged to come out and meet the candidates at each event.
