DUBOIS – Rick DeSalve, sales manager, and Bill Swatsworth, Penn State intern, of Bob Johnson Subaru in DuBois made a special delivery to the DuBois Area Middle School on Jan. 19 as part of the Subaru Love of Learning program.
For any purchase or lease a new Subaru between Nov. 19 and Jan. 2, Bob Johnson Subaru donated a new, nonfiction book to the DuBois Area Middle School.
“The donation of over 100 books was completely unexpected and greatly appreciated. With the transition to the PA Core Standards, there has been a greater emphasis on nonfiction reading selections. The donation of nonfiction books will assist our students in meeting the grade level standards as well as enhance our students’ love of reading,” said middle school Principal Wendy Benton.
“The heartfelt support and kindness of the community is commendable. Since I moved into the community less than three years ago, I have been consistently impressed by the community’s support of the school district,” said Librarian Julie Baun, “and I have decided to pay Johnson Subaru’s kindness forward by sharing the donation with the elementary libraries as well.”
“I’m so grateful to Johnson’s Subaru for the books that are going into the libraries’ collection both here and at the elementary level,” added Baun. “All of these books will be utilized by students across our district to enhance their knowledge of the world around them.
“These books will allow nature and wildlife to come alive on the pages through photos and passages. In addition, the classroom copies will allow teachers to create centers, study groups, and literature circles for in depth and deeper study of topics that are already in their curriculum.”
