A Turkish Airlines flight from Houston to Istanbul was diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland because of a “bomb alert,” the airline said Sunday. The Boeing 777 landed safely and all passengers and crew disembarked. The bomb threat is being investigated, Turkish Airlines said.
Flight TK34 was carrying 207 passengers and two infants, the airline said.
Shannon Airport serves the west coast of Ireland and is about 25 kilometers (15 miles) from the city of Limerick.
The passengers have been moved to a secure area of the airport, officials there said in a statement. A sweep of the plane will follow.
