CLEARFIELD – Kathy Miller asked for an audience with the borough council at Thursday night’s meeting to determine the status of her position as Clearfield Borough Tax Collector.
Miller said she had not heard anything at all and hoped she might get some answers from council at the meeting.
Borough Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell explained, for the benefit of the media, that he had raised concerns about a possible conflict of interests with Miller continuing as tax collector in light of her recent appointment to a position with the County Controller’s office.
Bell reported he and the Controller’s solicitor, James Naddeo, were looking into the situation, and that Miller had retained an attorney from Gates and Seaman Law office. He confirmed that borough council had received a letter from Miller’s attorney, and he was reviewing it.
Bell said the matter was not something that could be discussed in a public meeting, but would require an executive session. Bell added that, as Miller had retained council, any discussions need to go through the lawyers.
