WASHINGTON, D.C. – As hundreds of thousands of people visit Pennsylvania this week for the 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show, U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) welcomed Bald Eagle High School agriculture teacher, and Future Farmers of America (FFA) leader, Todd Biddle to Tuesday evening’s State of the Union Address.
Thompson is a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee and co-chair of the bipartisan Career and Technical Education Caucus. He invited Biddle due to his work involving agricultural education and his dedication to public service.
Thompson issued the following statement after the address:
“I am excited that Mr. Biddle was able to join me tonight to talk first-hand about the state of education, getting students and parents engaged, and ensuring the next generation is ready to lead the agricultural sector into the 21st Century.
“It is a testament to his success as an educator that his students are playing a large role in Pennsylvania’s 100th Farm Show, which is taking place this week in Harrisburg.
“Four of his students received their Keystone Degrees, which is the highest recognition for Pennsylvania’s FFA Students. An additional six students received their FFA jackets, officially joining the organization. There is no better representation of what agriculture looks like across Pennsylvania, and the nation, than these students.”
