Gerald “George” Stine, 88, of New Liberty, RD Philipsburg, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 at Penn Highlands Hospital Clearfield.
He was born in North Philipsburg on Oct. 24, 1927, a son of the late Elmer and Miriam (Gates) Stine.
Mr. Stine was a Protestant by faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed as a mechanic for a number of area auto dealerships, in construction and for coal companies until his retirement. He was also the owner and operator of GG’s Auto Sales in New Liberty.
On July 11, 1948 in Tyrone, he married the former Lillian J. Harris, who survives at home.
Mr. Stine is also survived by a daughter, Carol J. Walker and her husband, Henry of South Philipsburg; a son, David T. Stine and his wife, Verna of Rome, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gerald L. “Jerry” Stine; a great-great-grandson, Nicholas; two sisters; and five brothers. He was the last of his generation.
Private funeral services will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg. There will be no public visitation.
Burial will be at Centre Cemetery, RD Osceola Mills.
