Margaret E. ‘Margie’ Krebs, 88, of Clearfield died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at the Christ the King Manor, DuBois. She was born April 20, 1927, a daughter of the late Henry L. Sr. and Delia (Beahan) Krebs.
She was a 1945 graduate of the St. Francis High School. She then began working for The Progress, becoming president of the paper in 1997, a position she held until her retirement in July of 2015.
She was very committed to her family, friends, church and community, which were all detailed in their entirety in the recent story published on Friday in The Progress and in future articles.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, where she was very active, including serving as organist for many years.
She is survived by her four siblings, Thomas Krebs and his wife, Eleanor of Hilton Head, SC and Mary Michael, Ann Law and her husband, Clair and Msgr. Henry Krebs, all of Clearfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with her brother, Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday and from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis School, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, or to Christ the King Manor, 1100 W. Long Ave., DuBois.
